Dr. Heather Hopkins

Dr. Hopkins teaches the Autism Across the Lifespan course in the Graduate Counseling Psychology program at Delaware Valley University (DelVal). Previously, Dr. Hopkins created and taught coursework in DelVal’s Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Hopkins is currently the director of Special Education for the Urban Teaching Residency (UTR) program with GSE through the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2005, she has created coursework for certification in special education and disabilities studies for local universities. She has developed the Special Education Certification into an online program and teaches students seeking general education certification the coursework for working with students in an inclusive environment. Additionally, she is the founder of UTR’s VAST LIFE fieldwork experience.

In addition to her work in higher education, Dr. Hopkins spent 23 years teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities. She has been a supervisor of Special Education and is currently the executive director of Pupil Services for Centennial School District.
