A Message from the President

From Delaware Valley University’s very first days, experiential learning has been an integral part of our curriculum. Our founder, Joseph Krauskopf, spoke of teaching “science with practice” – in other words, learning through doing, as well as through studying.

Our founding principle could not be more important today, in a world that demands positive outcomes from higher education. We have stayed true to it, strengthening it and embedding it as a core tenet of our curriculum. Our commitment to it is so steadfast that it is central to our vision: Delaware Valley University will be the leader in experiential education, empowering all learners to transform the world.

We breathe life into this vision daily. Our students work alongside passionate faculty members and peers to use what they learn to address local and global challenges that matter to them. Students also gain valuable real-world training through our unique Experience360 Program, an initiative so cutting-edge that the National Society for Experiential Education recognized it as the Outstanding Experiential Education Program of the year.

Research shows that these opportunities lead to greater success in the classroom and in the job market, as well as in life. At DelVal, participation in E360 is instrumental in increasing career outcomes for graduating seniors.

As a comprehensive university, we offer graduate programs in business administration, counseling psychology, criminal justice, teaching and learning, special education, educational leadership, and public policy, and a doctorate in education. Several new graduate programs are in development to meet current and anticipated workforce needs. Our focus on experiential education is realized in these programs through a practitioner-based faculty – high-level professionals who use their workplace experiences to provide real-world examples that complement their classroom teaching.

As the University's 13th president, I have worked with my colleagues across campus to create an atmosphere that inspires people and fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, clear communication, responsible resource stewardship and strong partnerships. Our 5-year strategic plan gives us a roadmap to advance student success, engage all learners, enhance faculty and staff excellence, and expand community and industry partnerships – all achieved through a focus on experiential education and resting on a foundational culture that is dynamic and inclusive.

I am more confident than ever in our ability to educate today’s learners and transform them into tomorrow’s leaders – because at DelVal, you don’t receive an education. You experience it.
