The Delaware Valley University education department is hosting G Suite for Education certification training for DelVal education students and alumni on April 20 and April 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The University’s secondary education program is the first teacher preparation program including the Google certification as part of the program. The program is open to current DelVal undergraduate and graduate students, alumni and faculty. There are 50 seats available in the Google training program. Participants are required to register in advance online. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis. The training will be held in room 200 of the University’s Life Sciences Building.

“The Education Department at DelVal is dedicated to preparing our students for modern classrooms, and Google Certified Educator training is one more example of that dedication,” said Dr. David Timony, chair of education. “Level One certification will provide DelVal students and alumni with core knowledge and skills for the meaningful implementation of this technology in their classrooms.”

The G Suite for Education (formerly called Google Apps for Education) includes: Gmail, Calendar, Classroom, Contacts, Drive, Docs, Forms, Groups, Sheets, Sites, Slides, Talk/Hangouts, and Vault. The programs are used by more than 50 million students, teachers, and administrators around the world. With Google Classroom, teachers can send assignments and resources to their students. Students can submit work and receive notifications about due dates and assignments through the program.

Designed for educators and classroom teachers who wish to demonstrate proficiency in using Google for Education tools. The Level 1 status indicates that an educator is able to successfully implement G Suite for Education into their teaching practice in order to enhance teaching and learning. The Level 2 status indicates that an educator is able to successfully integrate a wider range of Google for Education tools and other technologies in order to transform their teaching practice.
