DelVal Announces James Cooper as Vice President for Finance and Administration

Delaware Valley University (DelVal) has named James Cooper as vice president for Finance and Administration, effective Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Cooper will report to President Benjamin Rusiloski, Ph.D., and be a member of the President’s Cabinet. He will have responsibility for budgeting and finance, information technologies, facilities, public safety, enterprise risk management, auxiliary enterprise operations and community partnerships.

“I am delighted to welcome Jim Cooper to our management team at DelVal,” said Dr. Rusiloski. “Jim brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education finance, budgeting, capital expense planning and execution, facilities, information technology, risk management, auxiliary enterprise operations, public safety, community partnerships and risk management. He is a strong addition to our team.”

Cooper served as vice president of Finance and Administration at Cabrini University with responsibility for the key financial and business functions within the University, prior to accepting the position at DelVal. At Cabrini he oversaw financial operations and planning, facilities management, human resources, endowment and investment management, enterprise risk management, as well as the operations of information technology and services, food services, bookstore, public safety, groundskeeping, and facilities. Cooper also served as the management representative on Cabrini’s Audit, Legal, Risk and Compliance, and Fiscal Integrity board committees.

Before joining Cabrini, Cooper was vice president of Finance and Administration at Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU) from 2017 to 2021. Prior to VWU, he held positions in Finance at Arcadia University, Ursinus University and LaSalle University. Before entering finance in higher education, Jim worked in the accounting and healthcare industries.
