DelVal and MCCC announce transfer agreement

Mercer County Community College (MCCC) and Delaware Valley University officially signed a transfer articulation agreement Friday, May 27 which, will provide a seamless pathway for MCCC students who want to transfer to DelVal. The partnership consists of three special agreements to help MCCC graduates go on to earn DelVal bachelor's degrees. 

“Increasing accessibility to a four-year college degree is one of our primary goals at Mercer County Community College, and we are proud to welcome Delaware Valley University as a partner in providing a quality, affordable education to our students,” said MCCC President Dr. Jianping Wang.

Under the Guaranteed Transfer Admission Agreement, Mercer County Community College students who earn associate degrees from MCCC will be guaranteed admission to DelVal.

Under the Core-to-Core Agreement, students who earn MCCC associate degrees will have satisfied DelVal’s general education requirements or, core courses.  This will allow MCCC students to complete a minor at DelVal or, take electives that interest them without losing transfer credits.

MCCC graduates from 14 academic programs at the community college will be able to easily transfer into related bachelor's degree programs at DelVal under the Program-to-Program Agreement. The MCCC associate degree programs included in this agreement are: biology, business administration, global business, sports management, chemistry, communications, organizational communications, radio communications, television communications, news media communications, criminal justice-law enforcement, criminal justice-corrections, liberal arts, and plant science.

“We wanted to develop a seamless pathway for MCCC associate degree graduates to transfer to DelVal without losing credits from their quality experience at Mercer” said Art Goon, vice president for enrollment management at DelVal.  “The guaranteed admission and core-to-core components will ensure that all the courses earned at MCCC will transfer to a DelVal bachelor’s degree.”

MCCC students will also be eligible for DelVal transfer scholarships ranging from $10,000 to $19,500 per academic year for full-time students, and $1,500 per semester for part-time students. 

"The scholarships underscore DelVal’s commitment to providing MCCC students an affordable bachelor’s degree and being the 'most transfer friendly university' in the region," said Goon.

“MCCC continues to educate outstanding students who are extremely prepared to continue and earn bachelor’s degrees” said DelVal President Dr. Joseph Brosnan.  “It is important that we make a DelVal education affordable. We are pleased to provide these scholarships, and look forward to welcoming more MCCC students as a result of this new agreement."

In addition to the transfer merit scholarships, members of Phi Theta Kappa honor society will also receive an additional $1,000 per academic year through a PTK scholarship. MCCC and DelVal representatives are also discussing ways to jointly expand educational opportunities for MCCC’s honors students.

“We hope to expand our agreement to provide a pathway from MCCC’s American Honors program into DelVal’s honors program,” said Goon.   “This potentially would provide MCCC students with an Honors Program Scholarship.”

MCCC graduates interested in enrolling at DelVal in the fall semester can take advantage of the Guaranteed Admission, Core-to-Core, and Program-to-Program agreements as well as the transfer scholarships.
