If you’re thinking about an animal science degree, here’s why you should choose DelVal:
- About Our Animal Science Degree
DelVal’s animal science degree includes advanced science, liberal arts and professional courses to prepare you for a successful career. Our bachelor’s degree offers specializations in livestock science and pre-professional science, and each provides hands-on learning opportunities.
DelVal even has livestock facilities on campus, which house beef and dairy cattle, horses, sheep and swine. Whether you’re interested in the care, breeding or management of animals, our facility is a great place to learn your trade.
- Hands-On Experience Through the Experience360 Program
All animal science students are required to participate in DelVal’s Experience360 Program, which emphasizes experiential learning outside the classroom. Through this program, students participate in research, community service, study abroad, internships and more so they can explore different career paths and discover their professional interests.
Experience360 is integral to a DelVal education. And with 100% of our students earning real-world experience, many continue on to veterinary school, graduate school or the workforce with the skills and background they need.
- Two Specializations
The animal science field has several professional areas to explore. That’s why DelVal offers two degree specializations:
o Livestock Science: Interested in effective management for animals that produce food and fiber? Livestock Science might be the right program for you. Some classes include Livestock Industries and Careers, Animal Feeding & Nutrition and a choice of animal-production electives.
o Pre-Professional Science: This program prepares students for future entrance into university or for professional veterinary programs. Students immerse themselves in animal production electives, microbiology, organic chemistry and more.
- Explore Career Opportunities
After graduation, DelVal’s animal science students work in a variety of fields. Many continue to graduate or veterinary school. Others find work as lab technicians, dairy managers, educators, government employees or in agribusiness.
No matter what your interests are, your DelVal animal science degree unlocks the doors to dozens of career opportunities.
