Interning with the USDA Meat Animal Research Center

I spent summer 2018 milking pigs for research at the USDA Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) located in Nebraska. The collected pig milk was used for a multi-research project at the Center to develop a better understanding of the growth of nursing piglets and hopefully, improve the overall production of piglets in the swine industry.

Heather Oeltjen-Bruns '19 is an animal science student at Delaware Valley University. She gained hands-on experience in her field by interning in summer 2018. On campus, she is involved with Sigma Alpha and Block and Bridle.
