Inside DelVal’s Annual Holiday Concert

Posted on November 19, 2015 by Delaware Valley University.

Each year in December, the Delaware Valley University community gathers for a festive holiday concert to celebrate the upcoming holidays. The concert isn’t only a friendly and warm event that takes place during the season of giving, but it’s also a great way to see the talent of members of the DelVal community and celebrate with your neighbors through sing-alongs and spreading cheer.

Whether you’re a DelVal student, part of the DelVal community or a resident of Doylestown, DelVal’s Annual Holiday Concert is the best way to kick off the season.

DelVal Holiday Concert Specifics
The DelVal Annual Holiday Concert will be held on Sunday, December 6 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the DelVal Life Sciences Building Auditorium. It’s free to the public, not just the DelVal community.

Dr. Jack Schmidt, director of music and chair of the Department of Liberal Arts, will be the coordinator for the event. The holiday concert will consist of multiple performances, showcasing holiday-inspired music from all four of the DelVal student and community member ensembles.

DelVal Ensembles
Four DelVal ensembles will perform during the holiday concert, each offering their own twists when it comes to holiday music. The groups are the DelVal Concert Band, Jazz Band, Choral Ensemble and String Ensemble.

These four groups, while continuously bringing in new performers each year, have provided performances and experiences like none other at DelVal for more than 75 years. This diverse lineup of talented acts will bring you holiday music and cheer like never before.

Even if you son or daughter isn’t part of a DelVal ensemble that’s performing, you don’t want to miss them. Whether you prefer your favorite holiday songs sung or performed via instruments, you’ll be blown away by the level of talent of the performers in all four of the DelVal ensembles.

Dr. Jack Schmidt
Dr. Jack Schmidt is no stranger to music and ensemble performances, which should excite you even more about the upcoming DelVal Annual Holiday Concert. He’s a published author on many musical subjects and has toured throughout the Midwest with various ensembles, playing the trombone.

The expert guidance from Dr. Schmidt gives the four ensembles performing in the DelVal Annual Holiday Concert a strong basis for the presentation. As a university, we’re proud to showcase the many talented students that make up our music department and are ready to bring holiday cheer to the Doylestown community.

What’s the holiday season without sing-alongs, caroling and some joyous music? No matter if you’re a DelVal student, parent or resident of Doylestown, make sure that you come out to the DelVal Annual Holiday Concert this year.
