Making a good first impression, the moment you walk in the door

In my first job out of college, I was the receptionist at a TV station. I answered the phone and greeted visitors.

When the general sales manager was hiring new sales people, he purposely made them wait. They didn’t know it, but it was all part of the interview. As account executives, they would have to make cold calls on businesses. Maybe they would get in to see someone, maybe they wouldn’t. And if they did, they would probably be asked to wait to be fit into someone’s schedule.

Jeff was testing their patience. Did they constantly look at the clock and sigh?

Founding DelVal’s Ducks Unlimited Chapter

Posted on August 19, 2014 by Kristin Ryerson ’15.

In September of 2012, I worked with Christopher Adams ’13 to start The Delaware Valley University Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. We worked with Delaware Valley College Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Gregory George and Ducks Unlimited Regional Director Joe DeMartino to found the chapter. Ducks Unlimited is the world's leader in waterfowl and wetlands conservation. Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 13 million acres of wetland habitat since 1937, and as a student chapter we were hoping we could help raise money to support their efforts and also help waterfowl populations on the local level.
