Using the University’s alumni connections, Stephanie Tkach ’13, a business major who specialized in marketing, was able to find a career in her field right after graduation.

Tkach works at Interbrand, the world's largest brand consultancy, and has nearly 40 offices worldwide. Some of their clients include McDonalds, AT&T, Baskin Robbins, and 3M Post-It. She is working in the program management department as a program coordinator out of the New York City office. Her clients include General Electric and the Xerox Corporation.

Tkach got to know Tom Watson ’57, who helped her network and learn about business strategies and branding. Watson cofounded Omnicom Group, Inc., a strategic holding company.

Watson brings in executive speakers on campus for workshops that students can attend, and Tkach used them as an opportunity to network.

She ended up talking to him on a more personal level, and was able to work with local Doylestown start-up companies, where she assisted them by providing a branding perspective. The experience taught her more about strategies and the design of businesses.

Tkach said Watson pushed her to revise and send off her resume to businesses, and by January of her senior year she started the interview process for Interbrand.

“Networking at [DelVal] ended up being great because everyone knows you and you get a lot of encouragement,” said Tkach.

Besides networking, Tkach took advantage of opportunities to get involved on campus. Through the DelVal business club, she met people who were readily available for the students, and always willing to help her on her journey to find a job where she could apply her experience.

“The more contacts you can make, the more people you have for advice, and the better prepared you will be,” said Tkach.
