Nationally acclaimed educator and author Salome Thomas-EL will receive an honorary degree and address the graduates.
Mr. Thomas-EL is currently the head of school at Thomas Edison Charter School, in Wilmington, Delaware, after serving as a teacher and principal in the Philadelphia School District. He is the author of the best-selling I Choose to Stay and The Immortality of Influence. As a speaker, Mr. Thomas-EL has addressed more than 100,000 teachers, administrators, school staff, board members, parents, students and community members in the United States, Canada, Nigeria, Trinidad, England, Jamaica and the Virgin Islands. He is a frequent guest on “The Dr. Oz Show” and has spoken with C-SPAN, CNN, NPR and the Oprah Radio Network, and was honored as an “Inspiring American Icon” by Reader’s Digest. Mr. Thomas-EL holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communications from East Stroudsburg University.
