Orientation

photo_tilted6Welcome to DelVal!

(Orientation information will be sent to new students in April. Keep watching this website for updates.)

New Student Orientation at DelVal is your first opportunity to get acquainted with the college. It is also our first chance to welcome you in person, with all the warmth and enthusiasm a letter of acceptance simply cannot convey.

During Orientation, we will not only help prepare you for your first day of classes, but we will also help you to begin your journey toward graduation. You will meet fellow students, meet with a faculty member from your major and register for your classes. You will also have the chance to participate in workshops, learn about extracurricular activities and hear what students, faculty and staff have to say about your opportunities as a DelVal student and future alum. Attending New Student Orientation is your first step in ensuring success at DelVal.

Orientation occurs two times each year: summer for students entering in the fall semester, and winter for students entering in the spring semester. Orientation is highly recommended for transfer students. First-time freshmen are required to attend Orientation.

Important Dates for 2008:

  • Freshman Orientation - June 3, 5 & 7, 2008 (Please note limited spaces)

    • Students who have fewer than 18 college credits participate in Freshmen Orientation.

Freshmen Orientation will take place on June 3rd, 5th, and 7th, 2008. Download the Freshmen Orientation Checklist to guide students in their preparation for Orientation.

  • Excite new students about being a member of the DelVal community.
  • Prepare parents of first-year student for the personal and academic development changes that will take place during their student's first year in college.
  • Create an atmosphere that values the unique individuality of our students.
  • Familiarize students with the campus environment and facilities.
  • Provide structured opportunities for new students and their families to meet and develop relationships with faculty, staff, continuing students and other new students.
  • Introduce students to college services that will support their educational goals:  the Library, Career Center, etc.
  • Provide on-going program evaluation in order to adapt the program to meet the needs of entering new students.
