Methods of Giving
Those wishing to make gifts to Delaware Valley College’s Realizing the Vision campaign can do so in several ways. In all cases, donors should list a chosen area of funding or simply note that the gift is unrestricted. Gifts with Immediate Impact
Cash gifts – These simple yet heartfelt donations can be made easily with credit card, personal check, cashier’s check, even a money order. All should be made payable to Delaware Valley College.
Gifts of securities, stocks and bonds -- These gifts result in significant tax advantages to the donor when transferred to Delaware Valley College.
Recurring gifts -- Regular and consistent contributions carry great value and show a donor’s commitment. These can be arranged in advance, with the amounts and frequency chosen by the donor. Automatic credit card debits are one option.
Contributions over Time
Gift pledges – A pledge is a formal intention to make a gift over a period of three to five years. Installments can be set up. Each payment results in an income tax deduction.
Endowed gifts – These are donations invested by the College to earn income in perpetuity. They can be used for such things as scholarships and library funds. Endowed gifts begin at $50,000 and last forever. They can carry the name of a loved one or donor.
Legacy Gifts
Wills and Trusts – These are methods of supporting DelVal for years to come while also establishing a family legacy.
Income gifts and annuities – This form of gift allows donors to receive income for themselves or family members while ultimately supporting Delaware Valley College.
Property transfers – This is the transfer of a home, farm, open space or investment property to Delaware Valley College.
Naming opportunities and memorial gifts – Contributions at a certain level can help to honor a living or deceased person by naming a facility after them. Available options include conference rooms, labs and classrooms.
