DelVal Alumna Accepts Scientist Position at Merck & Co, Inc.

Camryn Quaste ’22, a conservation and wildlife management major, has recently accepted a scientist position in NonClinical Drug Safety at Merck & Co, Inc. Merck & Co., Inc. is a global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Rahway, New Jersey, that works to tackle some of the world's most unmet medical needs. Using the power of leading-edge science, Merck and Co, Inc. is saving and improving lives around the world.

Quaste connected with a Merck professional at the Job and Internship fair at DelVal. She was able to make a significant connection to the company through both her experience and peers at DelVal. She notes that Dr. Alicia Shenko, assistant professor of animal biotechnology and conservation, showed her motivation and genuine interest in her future. She felt that Dr. Shenko, along with many other professors, helped whenever they could in order for her to be prepared and excel as a new graduate

“I feel like I got my dream job at age 23,” said Quaste, reflecting on her path to this position. Camryn encourages students and graduates to never give up pursuing their interests even if there are unexpected challenges along the way; “ Stay persistent. Keep pushing towards the goal by building up experiences. Have confidence in yourself.”
