Doylestown, PA -- (December 23, 2008) - Delaware Valley College has elected Doylestown Hospital president and chief executive officer, Richard A. Reif, to its Board of Trustees.
Reif, of Furlong, PA, has been head of Doylestown Hospital since 1989. Prior to his service at Doylestown Hospital, Reif was executive vice president and chief operating officer from 1984 to 1986 and then president and chief executive officer from 1987 to 1989 of Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He also served as an executive vice president for Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia from 1978 to 1984, as well as the associate director of Friends Hospital in Philadelphia and assistant director of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, NY.
Since early 2008, Reif has been participating with Delaware Valley College’s strategic planning process and serves as a key member of that advisory group.
Founded in 1923, Doylestown Hospital is a regional health care resource with 207 beds located in Bucks County. Under Reif’s leadership, Doylestown Hospital is growing to meet record demands for inpatient and outpatient services. During his tenure, Doylestown Hospital has received national 5-star recognition from HealthGrades in a variety of clinical services. In addition, the cardiac services at the hospital have received the designation as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care from the region’s largest health insurer, Independence Blue Cross, and the highest honors for cardiac surgery by the International Society for Thoracic Surgery.
Today, the hospital offers services at several additional locations, including a health and fitness facility in Warrington, PA, called The Health & Wellness Center, which offers outpatient services including MRI, CT, mammography, laboratory and diagnostic x-ray. It also features The Lab and day spa in addition to conference and education facilities. The hospital also owns the Pine Run Community and Lakeview, an assisted living facility, all under the parent organization, the Village Improvement Association.
Reif earned his bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Maryland and his master’s of hospital administration from the Medical College of Virginia.

Doylestown, PA -- (December 22, 2008) - John D. Brown of Doylestown, PA, has been named vice president for student affairs at Delaware Valley College, effective immediatly.
Brown had been serving as the interim dean of students for Delaware Valley College since July, 2008. Prior to that, he was Head of School at the Solebury School in New Hope, PA, for 19 years. He was responsible for the overall leadership of the school including the academic program, institutional advancement, staff supervision, student life, admissions and athletics. Solebury School is an independent for co-educational day and boarding school for grades 7 through 12.
In his role at DelVal, Brown will manage all areas within student affairs including commuters, residential life, student activities and first year experience as well as advising student government. In addition, Brown will serve on the President Brosnan's cabinet and the college's strategic planning committee. As a priority, he will participate in the college's dialogue on student diversity issues.

Prior to his work at Solebury, Brown was headmaster at the Friends School in Mullica Hill, NJ, and dean of students and director of athletics at Oakwood School in Poughkeepsie, NY. Earlier in his career, he taught at the middle school, high school and college levels and was a youth coach for the New Hope Athletic Association and the Wenonah Athletic Association.
Brown served on the board of directors of the Friends Education Fund, Inc., in Philadelphia, and the Ellison School in Vineland, NJ. He was also a trustee of the Solebury School. Currently, Brown is a member of the Doylestown Hospital Institutional Review Board.
Brown earned his bachelor's degree in history from Beloit College and his Master of Education in supervision and administration from Bank Street College of Education in New York.
