Outcomes Assessment
Outcomes Assessment - What is it?
Assessment of student learning has been defined by scholar Barbara Walvoord as the “systematic collection of information about student learning, using the time, knowledge, expertise and resources available in order to inform decisions about how to improve learning.” This collection of information is achieved through three key steps:
- Articulate goals for student learning (typically at the institutional, program, and course levels)
- Gather evidence about how students are meeting those goals
- Use the information for improvement
This site is dedicated to assisting the DelVal community in the assessment process by providing pertinent information, reference material and guidelines.
