M. Piotrow joined the faculty of Large Animal Science Department in August of 2007.
Her teaching assignment includes: Mare and Foal Management Course and Lab, Equine Neonate Management Course, Introduction to Animal Science-Equine Section Lab, Horse Breeding Management Labs, Stable Management Labs and Yearling Management.
Piotrow, who is a graduate of Michigan State University in Animal Sciences, joined the Large Animal Science Faculty in 2007. Miss Piotrow comes to DVC with a wealth of academic and teaching experience. While a graduate student at Michigan State, Piotrow taught introductory courses in Animal Agriculture, Horse Management and Horsemanship. Her graduate research focused on The Influence of Stress on Passive Immunity in the Foal.
Piotrow’s expertise and passion centers around equine reproduction and physiology. In addition to teaching equine science courses, she is the assistant manager of the Standardbred Breeding facility on campus. Actively engaged in the racing industry, she is a member of the United States Trotting Association, Pennsylvania Standardbred Owners and Breeders Association and Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen Association.
Piotrow’s goals are to provide specialized hands on learning experience in the classroom current employers in the Equine Breeding Industry are looking for. Student employment post graduation is her ultimate focus. She is also working with other faculty and Russell Redding, dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, on a plan for the future of DelVal’s Equine Science and Management Program. She maintains proficiency in her field and keeps current in the sport of harness racing through her involvement in the industry.
