Study Liberal Arts in Berlin
The Liberal Arts Department is excited to announce a new Study Abroad opportunity in Berlin, Germany beginning in May 2012. Students will be able to complete up to 9 credits of required DelVal Core Curriculum courses (Modern Western Societies, US Foreign Policy, Introduction to the Arts) while spending 17 days in Berlin.
Piszek/Evans Exchange Program
This is an expense paid International Exchange Program for DelVal students to attend school at the University of Podlasie in Poland.
The program is focused on Polish and American undergraduate students studying agriculture. You will:
- learn agricultural marketing practices in another country
- exchange information on the beef industry in the US and Poland
- learn to understand and experience cultural traits, customs and traditions in Poland
- learn Polish phrases
- experience the lifestyle and work ethics of another society
Three students will be picked to take part in the exchange program. The Copernicus Society of America will provide funding and basic costs including airline tickets, passport costs and necessary lodging costs and some miscellaneous costs. You will live with a host family in Poland.
There is no need to speak Polish. Translators will be available.
The trip lasts 10 days including travel. You should be willing to give a group presentation to DelVal faculty and students when you return.
How do I qualify?
- be enrolled at DelVal
- have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- major in one of the agricultural & environmental sciences
- have completed no less than four academic semesters
Beijing Forestry University

Beijing Forestry University (BFU) is one of the key universities directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education. It is a multi-disciplinary university that features not only forestry, environmental and biological sciences, but also runs programs in other sciences, engineering, liberal arts, management, economics, law and fine arts. It is among the first universities to enjoy the privileges of the national "211 Project's" and "Action plan" for Education Revitalization toward the 21st Century. BFU consists of 13 colleges and schools, which offer 50 Bachelor's Degree programs, 50 Master's Degree programs, 28 Ph.D. programs and four post-doctoral programs, as well as Master of Agricultural Extension and Master of Engineering for the professional. The current number of students exceeds 20,000.
Qualifications: Students interested in the exchange program must obtain an application from the appropriate department contact below. The qualified student will posses the following characteristics: self-motivation, dedication, maturity, leadership, independence, initiative and sociability. The prospective candidate must have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate strong writing and research skills and have the permission of their Department to apply for the program. Students must be able to pay cost of travel to and from the site, as well as cost of any optional travel in Asia.

Exchange Program
DelVal students in equine studies and large animal science are eligible for an exchange program at Hartpury College during the second semester of their junior year.
Established in 1947 as the Gloucestershire Farm Institute, Hartpury College has established a reputation for the quality and breadth of their curriculum, the success of their vocational training and career preparation, their innovation in programming, and their excellence in technology and facilities. Today, it is an independent college with an enrollment of over 1400 full-time students and is ranked in the highest percentile of animal science higher education institutions in the United Kingdom by the Quality Assurance Agency. The campus is located on a 500-acre country estate in picturesque Gloucestershire, close to the historic city of Gloucester.
