Bob Byers, Jr.
President, Byers' Choice Ltd.
Byers' Choice is one of the largest Christmas manufacturers in the United States. The company started in 1978 around the kitchen table of Joyce Byers, who wanted to create figures that captured a more traditional Christmas. Her creations, the Carolers, were so well received, that over a hundred artisans now work in the Central Bucks facility and bring her designs to life. Byers' Choice distributes to thousands of retail stores around the world.
Byers joined the family company full-time in 1987. For many years he oversaw all of the production in the facility, as well as the overseas purchasing. In 1999, when his father retired from the business, Bob assumed the position of president.
Byers has been an active member in the local community. Through the years he has served on numerous non-profit boards, including both the local and regional chapters of the American Red Cross, the United Way of Bucks County, Central Bucks Healthier Community Team, the Doylestown Historical Society, Kids Voting and the Bucks County Historical Society. In addition, he chaired the recent capital campaign for the expansion of the Central Bucks YMCA.
Education has always been an interest of Byers. He served many years as chairman of the Youth Committee for the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. In that capacity he helped develop programs to introduce high school students to business. Through the Chamber, he also developed a course at DelVal, Real Life 101, which had business people showing and teaching skills to students to make them more effective upon graduation.
Byers currently serves on the board of First Savings Bank of Perkasie, a medium-sized community mutual bank. He received a degree in management from the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School.
