Why can't I hand in hours from more than two weeks before my department chair signed the registration form?

Registration is to be done prior to working. The signature indicates that the job is pre-approved and applicable to your major.

How can I register if I get a job at home during the summer?

We accept registrations through mail, fax or e-mail. You can download the form, or you can contact the CSPD and we will send you a form.

Why won't you accept an hour sheet without the progress report?

Progress reports cover the work you did during the hours recorded. Writing the report when the hours are due ensures that the experience is fresh in your mind. It also prevents you from writing last-minute reports to finish the program.

Do I have to write another Progress Report if I worked at the same job?

Yes. The report reflects the work done during the time period you just worked. Even the same job will have different experiences at different times. Think about how the classes you took impacted your work; compare similarities and differences during the work periods.

What is the Capstone Report/Activity?

The Capstone is the final requirement of the Employment Program. Capstone guidelines are different for each department. You may obtain your department's guidelines online or in the CSPD located in Segal Hall.

Why do I have to keep a folder with copies of what I've already turned in?

You receive a stamped copy of everything you submit. If there are discrepancies between what you think you handed in and what we have in the CSPD, you have documentation of what was turned in and when it was submitted.

How is the Employment Program graded?

Once you have completed all the Employment Program requirements, your employment program portfolio is sent to your department to be graded. You receive a letter grade that is factored into your GPA. Each department has its own grading criteria, and questions should be addressed to your department chairperson.

Will I get to see all the materials in my employment program portfolio?

After your portfolio is graded, it is yours to keep. It will include a grade sheet with faculty comments, the site visit comment form, and employer evaluations that were sent directly to the CSPD in addition to the paperwork you submitted.
