Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty
Dr. Bashar Hanna is the College’s chief academic officer, overseeing the academic affairs division, which includes curricular matters, new program development, faculty professional development, program reviews, accreditation processes, outcomes assessment, and academic strategic planning.
Prior to his appointment at DelVal, Dr. Hanna served as associate provost at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. Prior to that position, he served as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where he also served as interim provost.
Previously, Dr. Hanna has served as founding dean of Academic Affairs at DeVry University – Pennsylvania and has served his alma mater, Temple University, in various capacities. When he left Temple in 2002 he was associate dean of the College of Science and Technology.
Dr. Hanna has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in biology, cell biology, neurobiology, gerontology, biotechnology, mathematics and bioethics. He is president-elect of the American Association of University Administrators. He also serves on the Board of Directors of ACE – Access to College Education in Central New York.
Dr. Hanna lives in Buckingham, Pa., with his wife Deanna and two children, Christian and Lauren. The family enjoys playing and watching soccer together.
