Two nationally-recognized artists will offer courses at DelVal

Juliana with Braids, Oil, by George Thompson

Jan 10, 2014

George and Emily Thompson, two nationally-recognized artists, will be offering art courses at Delaware Valley College, in Doylestown, this spring.

George Thompson is an award-winning fine artist who has been printed in highly accredited publications such as The Wall Street Journal and exhibited at the Woodmere Museum in Philadelphia. Emily Thompson is a graphic designer and fine artist who has been featured in The New York Times, and exhibited at The Woodmere Museum in Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Sketch Club, The Trenton City Museum, as well as in various galleries and juried shows.

George Thompson will be teaching, “Painting and Drawing from Life Studio,” which begins Feb. 13, and “Keys to Drawing,” which begins March 3.

Each of these courses will teach students to “see” creatively so that the drawings and paintings will be expressive and alive. During “Painting and Drawing from Life Studio,” students will be working with a live model to practice their drawing and painting skills. This course is not meant for beginners, so only those with basic painting and drawing skills should enroll.

In “Keys to Drawing,” students will practice techniques with a variety of materials such as charcoal and ink. The course is ideal for artists of all levels.

Emily Thompson will be teaching, “Abstract Art: Fun Techniques and Tips,” which begins April 1.  Her course will help artists pick up skills to liven up their drawings and paintings. When using techniques such as mixed media and collage, a dull piece just isn’t possible!
