‘The New Neighbors’

Apr 27, 2015

Lynn Cummings will be discussing the film she appears in, "The New Neighbors: How One Town Created a Vibrant, Integrated Suburb" at Delaware Valley University April 29 at 4:40 p.m. in room 114 of the Mandell Science Building on main campus.

Cummings is president of Lynn Cummings Development Consultants. In the past 30 years, she has worked with hundreds of churches, schools and other nonprofits. She has helped raise millions of philanthropic dollars through: annual appeals, capital campaigns, stewardship programs and increased giving appeals.

Cummings is also the founder of Neighbors Empowering Pennsauken, a nonprofit organization formed in 1996 to embrace the cultural diversity of her home community.  Her efforts were chronicled in the PBS documentary, "The New Neighbors," about Pennsauken and the work of Stable Integration.

Cummings will show the film, take questions, and also talk about her role with Build Jake's Place, a nonprofit whose mission is to build play spaces for all children, but specialized for children and adults with disabilities.

The event is being sponsored by the Precarious Alliance Film Series and the Graduate Policy Studies Program's Policy in Practice Series.

This October, The Precarious Alliance will be hosting "Land and the American Dream," a three-day event that will look at sustainability and the American Dream.
