Sondra Miller-Wein, Esq., to present on immigration law

Sondra Miller-Wein, Esq., will present “From the Exclusion Act to the Dream Act: The Legal and Practical Challenges and Promise of Immigration” Tuesday, March 31 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The lecture will be held in room 114 of the Mandell Science Building on DelVal’s main campus. There is no cost to attend and it is open to the public. The lecture is being co-sponsored by the graduate policy studies program and the DelVal Book Community.
She will speak about the current status and challenges of immigration legislation. The lecture will provide broader social and historical context for current events such as the recent influx of immigrants from Central America.
A native of Ohio, she pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and received her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. She was admitted to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars in 1992 and since that time has been practicing litigation, concentrating on immigration law since 2004. Prior to founding Immigration Law Options, LLC, she was a staff attorney with HIAS and Council Migration Services of Philadelphia, a nonprofit organization providing legal and resettlement services for low-income individuals. She later joined the Law Offices of David E. Piver as Managing Attorney before establishing her diverse immigration practice. Miller-Wein provide services for clients who are detained or scheduled for a hearing before an Immigration Judge, as well as guidance and representation for family or employment based matters, naturalization, asylum, nonimmigrant visas, consular processing, or motions. She currently sits on the Board of Esperanza Immigration Legal Services in Philadelphia, and was recently elected to the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
