President Brosnan Named to Chamber Board

Dr. Joseph S. Brosnan, president of Delaware Valley College, has been named as a director of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. His three-year term began ­­­when he was officially welcomed to the board during the Chamber's annual meeting and luncheon.

Directors of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce are selected to the position by the Nominating Committee for their ability to bring vision, energy and differing perspectives to help shape the constantly evolving Chamber and its policies.

Brosnan has been president of Delaware Valley College since August of 2007. Since then, he has reached out to the community through his involvement with several organizations including serving on the board of directors for Bucks Beautiful, and as a Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center of Bucks County.

In addition to his service to the local community, Brosnan has been a leader in national organizations focused on education, serving as a Commissioner on the American Council of Education's Commission on Lifelong Learning and as a board member of Learning Matters, Inc.

Since 2005, he has served on the Board of Directors of the national "I Have a Dream" Foundation, which serves to motivate and empower children from low-income communities to achieve their educational and career goals.

Prior to becoming President of DelVal in 2007, Brosnan was vice president for Strategic Planning and External Affairs at Teachers College, Columbia University, where he served for 12 years.

From 1990 to 1995, Brosnan served as president of Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C.,  where he instituted a master of arts in middle grades education which was recognized as one of the 12 best middle-grade teacher prep programs in the country.
