New Dean of Graduate Studies Starts Today

Dr. Joseph Paris, the new dean of Graduate Studies, joins the DelVal community today. Joe most recently served as executive director of Graduate Admissions at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He previously served as an assistant professor of Higher Education and assistant dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing in the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University. As a scholar-practitioner, Joe’s practice, research and teaching focus on the intersection of institutional effectiveness and college access and draw upon his professional experience in enrollment management and higher education marketing. His research analyzes the relationships between college admissions criteria and selection methodologies, institutional finance, and access to postsecondary and graduate education. Joe is an Experts Bureau member of NAGAP, The Association for Graduate Enrollment Management, and a Research Advisory Board member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. He holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Temple University and a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

“Joe is an excellent addition to the academic leadership team,” shared Dr. Gloria Oikelome, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “He brings a breadth of experience in program development, enrollment management and integrated marketing strategies that will position the Graduate School for growth and further success. I look forward to his leadership of the school and the dynamic graduate team that we have in place.”

Joe will have responsibility for the management and leadership of the following graduate academic departments: Agribusiness, Business, Counseling Psychology, Criminal Justice, Education, Healthcare Administration, Physician’s Assistant, and Speech, Language and Pathology. He will also be responsible for working collaboratively with faculty for new graduate program development. In addition, Joe will take on joint responsibility for Continuing and Professional Studies with the Provost Office.
