Major General Ronald L. Bailey to speak at Commencement

Major General Ronald L. Bailey, Commanding General, First Marine Division, has been selected to speak at Delaware Valley College’s 2013 Commencement ceremony, to be held Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m.
“Major General Bailey’s long and storied military career will serve as an inspiration to our graduating seniors," said DelVal President Dr. Joseph S. Brosnan. "I am thrilled that he has agreed to join us on this important day and serve as our Commencement speaker.”
Major General Bailey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Austin Peay State University, in Clarksville, Tenn., and two master’s degrees: one in business management and administration from Webster University; the other in national security strategy from the National War College.
Major General Bailey's awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal with bronze oak leaf, Legion of Merit with combat V, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
DelVal will also award three honorary degrees during the ceremony. This year’s recipients will be Senator Chuck McIlhinney, Rear Admiral Stephen Chadwick (USN, retired) and Drew Becher, president of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
