May 07, 2014
Delaware Valley College’s Hunt Seat Team finished fourth at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championships, which were held in Harrisburg, Pa., May 1-4. This is the highest the team has ever finished. Out of 400 teams across the country, only 16 qualified for the national championships, and DelVal came in fourth out of those 16.
The College also had a top ten finisher in the prestigious Cacchione Cup competition (the top open rider from each region across the country advances to this competition). Chelsea Koerper ’14 took tenth out of the 38 qualified top open riders in the nation.
“I’m so proud of our team for placing so well at this prestigious national competition,” said Cory Kieschnick, chair of the equine science and management department and head coach of the Hunt Seat Team. “Every member of our team contributed to this, as each rider helped advance us to the zone championships where we qualified for nationals. I appreciate each rider on our team who has worked so hard this year.”
