The American Association of Candy Technologists (AACT) recently announced Hannah Vezzetti ’17, as the recipient of the 2016-2017 John Kitt Memorial Scholarship. Vezzetti, a food science student from Perkasie, Pennsylvania, was selected from an applicant pool of 60 students from 29 different schools. The Association gives the $5,000 award to aspiring candy technologists.

ACCT is a professional organization of technologists, operations personnel, educators, students, business staff and others who work to advance the confectionery industry. Winners of the scholarship must maintain a high GPA and show an interest in candy industry technology through research, work experience and formal study.

Vezzetti is secretary of DelVal’s Food Industry Club. She interned with PepsiCo during summer 2016 and worked for The Hershey Company as a product development intern in 2015. She has also developed, marketed and sold her own confectionery products at Breezy Meadows Farm in Perkasie, Pennsylvania.

"I am very pleased to have Hannah join the ranks of past winners who are contributors in the industry today," says Kevin Silva, AACT national scholarship chairman. "Hannah's confectionery knowledge, interest in attending confectionery technical conferences and her on-campus work with confection-related research made her a very qualified selection among a field of talented applicants."
