Delaware Valley College Bands to Present Winter Concert

The Delaware Valley College Concert Band and Jazz Band will present a special Winter Concert on Saturday February 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the college's Moumgis Auditoriumn (formerly known as the APR). The concert in open to the public and admission is free.

The concert will feature French composer Darius Milhaud's "Suite Francaise." This colorful work was composed as a tribute to the American soldiers' liberation of France during World War II. The piece includes music inspired by the five regions of France where the French underground fought together with American and Allied forces, including Brittany, Provence, Ile de France, Alsace-Lorraine and Normandy. Also on the program is New York composer Eric Ewazen's moving "Hymn for the Lost and Living," dedicated to the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001. The concert will conclude with a performance by the acclaimed Delaware Valley College Jazz Band. The ensemble will perform contemporary works and jazz standards including Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood" and Basie's "Shiny Stockings."
