Art Goon, vice president for enrollment management at Delaware Valley University, has been named to the Bucks County Economic Development Corporation (BCEDC) Board of Directors.  His appointment was approved at the recent BCEDC organization meeting and dinner.

BCEDC is a nonprofit, non-political economic development organization established in 1958 to support economic growth in Bucks County. BCEDC is a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certified economic development agency.

BCEDC works to: create and retain quality jobs in Bucks County; advocate for existing industry retention and expansion; develop innovative programs that will lead to future economic growth; coordinate economic development projects with county agencies and other organizations and encourage business growth in Bucks County through the use of a variety of federal, state and local financing programs.

Goon’s primary focus will be building connections to help employers take advantage of the opportunities DelVal can provide as a major resource for employer education and training in the county.

“I have had a conversation with Bob Cormack, executive director of BCEDC, and we are excited about DelVal’s participation in supporting economic growth in Bucks County,” said Goon.

“As Bucks County’s University, DelVal plans to be proactive in engaging county businesses and organizations to determine their specific education and training needs,” said Goon. “The University will become a resource for the delivery of those needs. DelVal and the Bucks County Economic Development Board Corporation are already discussing creating a new committee dedicated to meeting employer training and education needs.”

To introduce the membership to the Institution, Delaware Valley University hosted the BCEDC Board meeting July 27 in the Life Sciences Building.
