The Delaware Valley College Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Marie Tavianini, is dedicated to providing members an opportunity to perform outstanding choral music in a supportive environment. The ensemble is open to all DelVal students. The Chorale performs at various special events throughout the academic year including A-Day and Founder’s Day and performs annual Winter and Spring Concerts. Concert repertory includes choral masterpieces, popular music, and works by contemporary composers. The Delaware Valley College Chorale rehearses throughout the school year on Monday evenings from 7:30 until 9 and on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 until 6:00. DelVal students may in Chorale for credit (one credit per semester) or as an extra-curricular activity. Students who take Chorale for credit two consecutive semesters, pass out of the music portion of Introduction to the Arts (a Core Curriculum requirement). Delaware Valley College annually awards music scholarships to incoming freshman who commit to perform in the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band or the Chorale. These scholarships are awarded to talented DelVal students with a strong secondary interest in music. Criteria for awarding music scholarships include an on-campus audition, recommendation of the high school choral or band director and the student’s overall academic record.
