Post-Baccalaureate Accelerated Certification for Teachers (PACT)
Starting This Fall
The Delaware Valley College Post-Baccalaureate Accelerated Certification for Teachers is designed to provide students with the skills, competencies and experiences necessary to become a successful teacher. Upon completion of the PACT program, students will be eligible to apply for Instructional I certification, which is required to teach in public schools throughout the state. Delaware Valley College offers certification in the following areas: agriculture, biology, business/computers/information technology, chemistry, general science, English, mathematics and social studies.
Criteria for admission to the PACT program are as follows:
• Baccalaureate degree in the content area with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Successful completion of the Praxis II in the content area
• Evidence of compliance with PA state health regulations for teachers.
• Valid PA Criminal Record Check
• Valid PA Child Abuse Clearance
• Valid FBI Clearance Report
• Act 82 Clearance signed
• An up-to-date résumé
• A writing sample
• An interview
PACT is designed to be completed in as little as 18 months from enrollment in the first course to the completion of student teaching. This time frame will vary according to avail¬ability of classes, student teaching assignments, as well as the work ethic and desire of the student.
Students enrolled in the PACT Program at Delaware Valley College must successfully complete 21 credit hours of required education courses, corresponding field experiences which meet the competencies required by the Department of Pennsylvania. Students must also successfully complete a semester of supervised full time student teaching.
The seven required courses are offered in cohort groupings and run on an accelerated six-week schedule. Student teaching will be offered once all courses and field experience requirements are successfully completed.
Classes begin in September at our main campus in Doylestown.
