Exploring the Solar System (ages 7-9, June 26-30)

Exploring the Solar System takes students on a “grand tour” through the solar system. Participants will learn about the planets, asteroids, comets and meteoroids. Activities include making models of planets and exploration spacecraft. Students learn about landing on other planetary bodies through   touchdown activities and also learn about the earth’s cloud and weather patterns by constructing cloud spotters.

This week-long camp includes a visit to the National AeroSpace Training And Research (NASTAR®) Center in Southampton, where students will pilot an aircraft simulator and experience a simulated suborbital spaceflight. Everyone will build and launch a model rocket and will build a simple telescope. This camp is presented by the NASTAR Center.
