CEO Kids (ages 10-13, July 10-14)
In CEO Kids your child will learn the business fundamentals that can grow them into 21st-century masters of innovation! Participants will explore business principles in sales, marketing, management, profit margins, buying trends and consumer behavior. Using industry research, creativity, innovation and market analysis, campers will develop a new product or enhance an already existing product or service.
Participants will work independently and in teams to build a marketing plan and put their presentation talents to work making their pitch to the audience. The future CEOs will practice the art of collaborative learning and team building while gaining computer platform and software experience including Microsoft’s PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Publisher.
$259 program cost + $30 fee
About the Instructor
John W. Sanders is a high school instructor for the Pennsbury School District teaching in the applied engineering and technology education department. Sanders has taught in the Pennsbury School District since 1996 and presently teaches design engineering and robotics, and is also a part-time professor at DelVal where he teaches in the business administration and information technology departments. He has been with DelVal since 1997. Previously, he spent 16 years in the private sector.
Sanders holds a B.S. in industrial arts and industrial technology from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree from The George Washington University with additional studies at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He has also completed the principal’s certification program at Cabrini College. Sanders presently serves as the advisor and sponsor of Pennsbury High School’s Multi-Cultural Youth Leaders Club (MCYL) and the Sea Falcons Submersible Robotics Team. The Sea Falcons provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science and mathematics while building an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Students learn engineering concepts, problem solving, teamwork and technical applications. Local competitions are sponsored by Drexel University, the Office of Naval Research and The Department of the Navy. In 2015, the Sea Falcon won five Awards, including the Overall Championship! Sanders is also the recipient of the City of Philadelphia’s Achievement Award for Literacy and Technology, The Barnes and Noble “My Favorite Teacher” award, and the National Society of High School Scholars “Educator of Distinction" award.
