Chorale
The Delaware Valley College Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Marie Tavianini, is dedicated to providing members an opportunity to perform outstanding choral music in a supportive environment. The ensemble is open to all DelVal students. The Chorale performs at various special events throughout the academic year, including A-Day and Founder's Day, and performs annual Winter and Spring Concerts. Concert repertory includes choral masterpieces, popular music and works by contemporary composers. In 1998, the Chorale was featured on National Public Radio for their performance of the Leipzig audition cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach and Christoph Graupner. That same year, the Chorale performed the premiere of Chicago composer, Paul Nicholson's Sail Forth, commissioned by the Chorale for the inauguration of Dr. Thomas Leamer as DelVal President. Outstanding ensemble members are selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Collegiate Choral Festival under the direction of the world's leading choral conductors.
The Delaware Valley College Chorale rehearses throughout the school year on Monday evenings from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. DelVal students may participate in Chorale for credit (one credit per semester) or as an extra-curricular activity. Students that take Chorale for credit two consecutive semesters may be exempt from of the music portion of Introduction to the Arts (a Core Curriculum requirement). If taking Chorale for credit, register for LA 1059.
