Tours

Public Tours

We will be opening for the 2010 season in May and will be open to the public on the following Saturdays from 1-4 p.m., unless otherwise specified:

  • May 8
  • May 29
  • June 5 Sheep Shearing - 10:00 a.m. until finished; museum will remain open until 4:00 p.m.
  • June 12
  • June 26
  • July 10
  • July 24
  • August 7
  • August 28

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Programs will vary depending on the season and weather, but will always be a fun and educational experience for the entire family.

Group Tours

We are open year round by appointment for group tours and activities. Our animal programs are popular with pre-k and kindergarten, older kids can engage in other farm activities such as butter making, laundry day, shelling and grinding corn, biscuit baking, candle or soap making, milking a cow or goat, and more. Animal and gardening programs are seasonal. Call 215-699-3994 for information and to schedule your program.

Brownie Try-Its

We can help you meet requirements for the following badges:

  • Animals - Brownies will meet the resident horses, sheep, goats, chickens, cows and rabbits and learn about their role on the farm.
  • Listening to the Past - The modern family is, in many ways, different from the 19th century family. Scouts will learn about and try out some of the chores women and children would have done and see how family life and lifestyle were different than they are now.
  • Make It/Eat It - Brownies will learn about where our food comes from in one of three programs: Dairy, Garden or Baking
  • Plants - Scouts will learn about the many types of plants early farmers and settlers had access to and how they used them for wood, medicine, food and other purposes.

Junior Girl Scouts

We can help you meet requirements for the following badges:

  • Food, Fibers & Farming - Scouts will learn about where the products they eat and use every day come from and try their hand at creating a dairy product that they can sample.
  • Horse Fan - Horses aren't just for riding. Early farmers depended on them to help with the plowing, planting and harvesting of their crops and even transporting them to market.
  • Yarn & Fabric Art - Sheep and wool were another important aspect of farming. Scouts will meet our sheep and try out some of the steps to process their wool into products we can use.
  • Family Living Skills - The modern family is, in many ways, different from the 19th century family. Scouts will learn about and try out some of the chores women and children would have done and see how family life and lifestyle were different in the 1800s.

Cub Scouts

Tiger Cubs

  • Go See It - Family Life - The modern family is, in many ways, different from the 19th century family. Scouts will learn about and try some of the chores and activities people did in the 1800s and see how family life and lifestyle were different than they are now.
  • Elective 31 - Animals - Scouts will meet the resident horses, sheep, goats, chickens, cows, and rabbits and learn about their role on the farm.
  • Elective 44 - Dairy Products - Cub scouts will meet our resident cows and goats, try their hand at milking (seasonal) and make a dairy product to sample.

Wolf Cubs

  • Elective 15 - Grow Something - Scouts will tour our German Four-Square Garden and learn about what is growing. Depending on the season, they will plant or harvest something and see some of our antique tilling equipment.

Bear Cubs

  • Achievement 3 - What Makes America Special - Scouts will visit an historic home and learn about how life was different for the family who lived here in the 1800s. They will try out some of the chores and activities people did back then.
  • Elective 16 - Farm Animals - Scouts will meet our resident sheep, horses, cow, goats, chickens and rabbits and learn about their role on the farm in the 1800s and how they were cared for.
