Partnership is an important word at Delaware Valley College. DelVal maintains important exchange programs with Hartpury College in England and the College of Agriculture Science and Education in Jamaica. We constantly seek mutually beneficial partnerships with business, industry, government and other organizations.
DelVal students also have the opportunity to work alongside world-class researchers through the college's relationship with the Hepatitis B Foundation of America (HBF). The HBF is a public health outreach program whose mission is to find a cure for Hepatitis B virus infection and serve as a resource for those who need information and support.
Many of the schools listed as partners are those with whom DelVal has developed Articulation Agreements. These transfer agreements make it easy for students from other institutions to transfer to Delaware Valley College. Please see the Transfer section of the website for further information, which is located here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What are the program entry requirements?
Answer: Entry into the program is simple. An earned bachelor's degree is all that is needed. A completed application and three letters of reference complete the process. Candidates who hold an earned master's degree are encouraged to submit a transcript of completed graduate work in order to be considered exempt from similar courses previously taken.
Answer: Remaining within the confines of the program, the MS degree will be earned with just eleven three-credit courses taken over five semesters, less time if additional course work is taken on campus during scheduled summer sessions.
Answer: The earned Master of Science degree, with accompanying certification, will provide you with the essential credentials needed to hold any school level administrative or supervisory position within the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, dependent upon the career goal you choose to pursue.
Answer: In Pennsylvania you will need to take the qualifying exam for certification, the PRAXIS in Educational Leadership (#0410). In New Jersey the qualifying exam for certification is the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA). Applicants who hold the MS degree in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley College and successfully complete their state's qualifying exam will be eligible for state certification through the PA or NJ Department of Education.
Answer: The Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley College is fully recognized and approved by both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Departments of Education. Additionally, Delaware Valley College is an institution accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Answer: All classes will be conducted on the campus of Delaware Valley College. Classes begin as scheduled between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. The course schedule consists of one evening per week and occasionally classes are conducted on Saturdays. All classes are taught by certified local school leaders and highly qualified Delaware Valley College faculty who are leaders within the field of education.
Answer: The current on campus tuition rate is $528.00 per credit, making each class $1584. Except for the purchase of books and supplies, there are no other program costs involved.
Answer: Delaware Valley College provides assistance with financial aid through Academic Management Services. Details regarding financial aid are available through the Bursar's Office. Additionally, tuition reimbursement may be available through your employing school district in accordance with your local professional contractual agreement.
Answer: It is recommended that you contact the Educational Leadership Program Director for a brief discussion to answer any questions not answered above. Contact Dr. Robert Valente - 215-489-4833 or by email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Delaware Valley College admits a limited number of students who express a need for academic improvement in relation to our entrance requirements but still show a strong desire toward a particular program.
The CHOICES program allows these students to complete courses relevant to areas where scholastic achievement must improve. Students must pass College Reading (LA0015), Developmental English (EN0012) and/or Basic Mathematics (MP0010) before continuing on in to additional English or Mathematics courses.
Students are limited to no more than 14 credits during their first semester; Academic Strategies (ED0016) is required during this first semester. CHOICES is monitored by a program coordinator, who evaluates student progress during his or her first semester to help schedule the following semesters with the student.
Due to the nature of the program, a student may require more than the traditional eight semesters of study before applying for graduation.

Private colleges, such as DelVal, may seem to have higher "sticker prices," but we are also likely to give more financial aid.
Once students apply for financial aid, many find that the cost to attend DelVal is less than attending another institution. We encourage you to submit applications for admission and financial aid to DelVal to discover the "real" cost of your education.
Our Financial Aid Office will quickly determine the scholarships, grants and loans you are eligible for. Merit-based scholarships are awarded for academic achievement or performance. Federal, state and institutional grants, based on financial need rather than SAT scores or GPA's, are also available. Students should not forget about including loans in their financial-aid package. Our Financial Aid Office will send you a financial aid kit, clearly showing the financial assistance we have discovered for you.
The affordable cost to attend DelVal may surprise you, but the value of the education you receive is even more exceptional. Feel free to explore our scholarship guide, which helps make the financial-aid search even more simple.

The College is officially designated as a CLEP Testing Site. Details on the College's policy regarding CLEP may be obtained from the Mathematics Department at (215) 489-2465.
While DelVal has a rolling admission period, applications should be submitted as early as possible in the senior year, preferably by the end of the first marking period.

Delaware Valley College’s academic programs include a strong core curriculum and an intense major curriculum; typically, majors require more than 40 credits at DelVal, while the major requirement at other colleges is often just 24 credits. In several of the college’s programs, designated majors and specializations are available that enable students to gain even more knowledge and professional experience.
All classes are taught by faculty, many of whom are professionally active in the subjects they teach. DelVal employs a hands-on method to learning; our faculty takes teaching to a higher level and requires students to actually practice particular methods in a work environment. This work experience, for example, allows Horticulture majors to learn how to prune fruit trees or Business majors to learn how to do case studies of Fortune 500 companies.
Our belief in a strong core curriculum gives students an opportunity to expand their areas of study in the liberal arts that focus on communication and the arts, humanities and social sciences. Free electives permit students to tailor their program to meet specific career objectives as well as explore courses enable the student to specialize in a particular study.
A student may choose a minor, consisting of a minimum of 15 credits, in any subject area outside of his or her academic major. Courses in the minor are selected with the advice of the Chairperson or Director of the department or program of the minor.
Delaware Valley College requires students to demonstrate competence in written and oral communications, computation and computer literacy.
For a list of our Academic Areas of Study, please feel free to visit our Academics page.
In 1896, Rabbi Joseph Krauskopf, D.D., purchased a 100-acre farm, arranged for the construction of a small classroom building, employed a faculty of two and enrolled six students. Delaware Valley College, then called the National Farm School, provided a three-year program combining academics and work experience that continued through World War II.
In 1945, the school was reorganized to strengthen its academic program and was renamed The National Farm School and Junior College. Before the program had completed a full cycle, the college realized advances in the pure and applied sciences mandated further expansion of the program to the senior-college level.
In 1948, after approval by the State Council of Education, the college name was changed to the National Agricultural College. The growth of the college and its programs following World War II, undertaken under the leadership of Dr. James Work, a 1913 graduate of The National Farm School, included the addition of new programs in Food Industry (1951), Biology and Chemistry (1958) and Business Administration (1965).
To reflect these additions to its program, the college’s name was changed to Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in 1960. The college has continued to enhance its program offerings, with additions including a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, and the Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics, Criminal Justice Administration and Secondary Education. In 1989, the Board of Trustees approved an abbreviation of the college’s name to Delaware Valley College. In 1998, the college embarked on graduate education with its first Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership, later followed by a Master of Business Administration in General Business and a Master of Business Administration in Food & Agribusiness.
The mission of Delaware Valley College is to provide students with an opportunity to reach their highest potential and to acquire, in an intellectually-stimulating environment, a quality education emphasizing hands-on experiential learning in agriculture, arts and sciences, business and graduate studies. The college prepares students for meaningful personal and professional lives and leadership roles in service to the community, the state, the nation and the world by emphasizing scholarship with good citizenship, appreciation of our cultural heritage and the importance and necessity of lifelong learning. Students are selected without regard to race, color, creed, ethnic origin, gender, age, disability or economic status.
Each year in early April, members of the college community join to reflect on the lives and contributions made by our two founders, Rabbi Dr. Joseph Krauskopf and Dr. James Work. In both men, the college found tireless benefactors, counsel and, most importantly, leadership realized by the growth and maturation of this unique institution.
To read more about our founders Rabbi Dr. Krauskopf and Dr. Work, please explore the following PDF documents that more closely examine their life and dedication to Delaware Valley College.
Delaware Valley College staff and faculty realize that a college education is an investment in the future. DelVal has created a set of goals that we apply every day to help our students succeed academically, professionally and personally.
