Aggies Compete At Gwynedd-Mercy Invitational
GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) - Brittany Schwartz crossed the finish line
in first place and helped the Delaware Valley College women's cross
country team take top honors at the Gwynedd-Mercy Invitational.
The men placed second in their competition.
Despite missing two of their top runners, the Aggies registered
32 points to edge Gwynedd-Mercy (33) in the four-team field. Eastern
University posted 65 points while Immaculata University finished
with 87 points.
Schwartz, a sophomore, placed ahead of 25 other competitors with
a 5K time of 20 minutes, 57.74 seconds. Sara Brown took fourth with
a time of 22 minutes, 16.55 seconds while Talesha Karish also finished
in the top 10 as her time of 22 minutes, 51.87 seconds placed her
sixth.
On the men's side, Delaware Valley's 49 points were just three
behind Gwynedd-Mercy for the top prize, but it did best four other
schools: Cumberland County College (57), Keystone College (84),
Eastern University (130) and Immaculata University (159).
Chip Brumbaugh finished third out of 42 runners as the sophomore
had an 8K time of 30 minutes, 6.46 seconds. Kevin McCoy took fifth
with a time of 30 minutes, 29.69 seconds while James Hammond crossed
the finish line 11th with a time of 32 minutes, 21.80 seconds.
