Aggies Compete At Belmont Classic

PHILADELPHIA (PA) - Brittany Schwartz and Caitlin Dorgan placed third and fourth respective to highlight Delaware Valley College's showing at the Belmont Classic. The Aggie women finished third out of 16 teams while the men finished ninth out of 20 squads.

The women recorded 113 points to trail only Wilmington College and Philadelphia University as the two tied for the team title with 97 points.

Schwartz recorded a 5K time of 19 minutes, 59.23 seconds to place third out 125 runners. Dorgan was right behind with a time of 20 minutes, 7.75 seconds. Sara Brown placed 20th with a time of 21 minutes, 44.75 seconds while Talesha Karish (22:44.89) and Meghan Hunsicker (23:49.43) finished 40th and 54th respectively.

On the men's side, the Aggies notched 251 points with Philadelphia University capturing the team title with 64 points. Chip Brumbaugh paced Delaware Valley as his 8K time of 28 minutes, 22.38 seconds placed him 10th out of 158 competitors. Kevin McCoy was 25th with a time of 29 minutes, 11.87 seconds. James Hammond (30:39.64) placed 52nd while Kevin Weber (31:51.98) and Dan Fenstermacher (33:21.68) finished 77th and 101st respectively.
