2007 SEASON REVIEW


DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College men's and women's cross country teams, under head coach Ed Andrewlevich, recently wrapped up the 2007 campaign. The Aggie women placed fourth out of 11 teams at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships while the men finished seventh out of 10 squads.

Delaware Valley hosted the conference championship for the first time on October 27. The women racked up 126 points to trail only three-time champion Elizabethtown College, Messiah College and DeSales University.

Sophomore Brittany Schwartz (Strasburg, PA/Lancaster Christian) and freshman Caitlin Dorgan (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) each earned all-MAC accolades by placing in the top 20 at the conference championships.

Schwartz, who was a second-team all-MAC honoree with a 13th-place finish last year, placed seven spots higher in 2007 to earn first-team accolades and a medal. She placed sixth in the 6,000-meter competition with a time of 25 minutes, 3.72 seconds.

Schwartz also placed in the top 10 at all six regular-season invitationals. She took top honors at the Gwynedd-Mercy College Invitational (October 6) with a 5K time of 20 minutes, 57.74 seconds.

Dorgan racked up second-team honors at the MAC Championships as she placed 13th out of 88 runners with a time of 25 minutes, 43.71 seconds. During the season, she competed in four meets and placed in the top five in all of them, including a first-place showing at the 5K Ursinus College Invitational on September 8 20:25.38).

Junior Sara Brown (Troy, PA/Troy) and sophomores Talesha Karish (Bethel, PA/Tulpehocken) and Melissa Plourde (Folcroft, PA/Academy Park) also competed at the MAC Championships.

Brown placed 33rd with a time of 26 minutes, 46.43 seconds and had a top 6K time of 25 minutes, 20 seconds at the Mideast Regionals (November 10). Karish was a spot behind at the MACs with a time of 27 minutes, 8.95 seconds. A week later, she notched a time of 25 minutes, 33 seconds at the Mideast Regionals. Plourde finished 61st at the conference meet with a time of 30 minutes, 17.62 seconds. Her best 6K time was also at the regionals when she ran the course in 28 minutes, 33 seconds.

Sophomore Amanda Barr (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg), freshman Yi-Cai Zou (Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) and junior Katie Lemoncelli (Peckville, PA/Valley View) also competed at the MAC Championships. Barr placed 72nd with a time of 32 minutes, 20.32 seconds while Zou was 77th with a time of 34 minutes, 19.51 seconds. Cropper took 83rd with a time of 35 minutes, 53.93 seconds.

Sophomore Meghan Hunsiker (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) rounded out the Aggie women's roster along with junior Katie Lemoncelli (Peckville, PA/Valley View) and freshman Ashley Majewski (Pocono Lake, PA/Pocono Mountain West).

Hunsiker had a top time of 29 minutes, 19.06 seconds at the Delaware Valley Invitational (September 1). Lemoncelli ran the Hood Invitational (October 20) in 32 minutes, 18 seconds while Majewski's top time was 35 minutes, 1.68 seconds at the Delaware Valley Invitational.
