Aggies Host The 2006 Delaware Valley College
Invitational
DOYLESTOWN
(PA) - The Delaware Valley College men's and women's cross country
teams opened its 2006 seasons by hosting an invitational through
the steady rain and high winds. The Aggie women placed fourth out
of 15 teams while the men took fifth out of 13 squads.
The Delaware Valley women registered 136 points to trail only Division
II West Chester University (46), Ursinus College (59) and Richard
Stockton College (105). Albright College followed the Aggies and
rounded out the top five with 140 points.
A trio of freshmen finished in the top 20 to pace Delaware Valley.
Brittany Schwartz led the way with a 10th-place showing out of 131
competitors as she finished the course in 26 minutes, 47.55 seconds.
Meghan Hunsiker took 14th place with a time of 27 minutes, 20.62
seconds while Talesha Karish finished 20th with a time of 27 minutes,
50.50 seconds. Sophomore Sara Brown was 24th with a time of 28 minutes,
27.63 seconds while fellow sophomore Katie Lemoncelli rounded out
the scoring by taking 64th with a time of 31 minutes, 16.30 seconds.
On the men's side, Delaware Valley registered 163 points for its
fifth-place showing. West Chester (45) took top honors followed
by Richard Stockton (77), Lebanon Valley College (107) and Ursinus
(126).
Individually, freshman Charles Brumbaugh was the top Aggie finisher
as he took 16th out of 98 runners with a time of 29 minutes, 52.95
seconds. Fellow rookie James Hammond (31:20.23) and sophomore Kevin
Weber (31:20.61) placed 26th and 27th respectively while freshman
Kevin McCoy (32:09.00) and Dan Fenstermacher (36:19.74) rounded
out the scoring by finishing 35th and 64th respectively.
