Delaware Valley Hosts The MAC Championships
Women Place Fourth, Men Place Seventh

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Brittany Schwartz and Caitlin Dorgan each earned all-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) accolades and helped the Delaware Valley College women's cross country team finish in fourth place as the Aggies hosted the 2007 conference championships.

On the women' side, Delaware Valley racked up 126 points to trail only three-time champion Elizabethtown College (32), Messiah College (48) and DeSales University (113) in the 11-team field.

The Aggie men placed seventh out of 10 squads with 175 points. DeSales ended Elizabethtown's eight-year run as conference champions as the Bulldogs finished with 38 points. Messiah placed second with 52 points followed by Elizabethtown's 55 points.

Schwartz, who was a second-team all-MAC honoree last year with a 13th-place finish, placed seven spots higher in 2007 to earn first-team accolades and a medal. She placed sixth in the 6,000-meter competition with a time of 25 minutes, 3.72 seconds.

Dorgan, a freshman, racked up second-team honors as she finished 13th out of 88 runners with a time of 25 minutes, 43.71 seconds.

Sara Brown (26:46.43) and Talesha Karish (27:08.95) placed 33rd and 34th respectively while Melissa Plourde rounded out the Aggie scorers by finishing 61st (30:17.62).

Chip Brumbaugh paced the Aggie men as the sophomore finished 27th out of 95 competitors with an 8,000-meter time of 29 minutes, 28.04 seconds. Kevin McCoy (30:13.79) and James Hammond (30:32.36) took 39th and 45th respectively while Kevin Weber (31:14.38) and Dan Fenstermacher (31:39.53) wrapped up the Delaware Valley scoring by placing 54th and 57th respectively.

Elizabethtown's Erin Fisher captured her second straight individual championship with a 6K time of 22 minutes, 33.66 seconds. Francis Eanes of Messiah took the men's title with an 8K time of 27 minutes, 4.36 seconds.
