2007 SEASON REVIEW


DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College men's and women's cross country teams, under head coach Ed Andrewlevich, recently wrapped up the 2007 campaign. The Aggie women placed fourth out of 11 teams at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships while the men finished seventh out of 10 squads.

Delaware Valley hosted the conference championship for the first time on October 27. The women racked up 126 points to trail only three-time champion Elizabethtown College, Messiah College and DeSales University. The men totaled 175 points.

The Delaware Valley men's roster was paced all season long by sophomore Chip Brumbaugh (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland). Brumbaugh placed in the top 20 in all six regular-season meets, including a top showing of third at the Gwynedd-Mercy College Invitational with a time of 30 minutes, 6.46 seconds. At the MAC Championships, he placed 27th out of 95 competitors with an 8K time of 29 minutes, 28.04 seconds.

Fellow sophomores Kevin McCoy (Clarksville, MD/River Hill) and James Hammond (Corry, PA/Corry) had solid showings at the conference championships as well as the duo finished 39th (30:13.79) and 45th (30:32.36) respectively. McCoy also placed fifth at the Gwynedd-Mercy Invitational with a time of 30 minutes, 29.69 seconds. Hammonds' top showing was at the Mideast Regionals (29:26.00).

Juniors Kevin Weber (Telford, PA/Souderton) and Dan Fenstemacher (Grove City, PA/Grove City) rounded out the Aggie competitors at the MAC Championships. Weber crossed the finish line in 54th place with a time of 31 minutes, 14.38 seconds. His top performance during they ear was 29 minutes, 42 seconds at the Mideast Regionals. Fenstermacher placed 57th at the MACs (31:39.53) and had his best effort at the Hood College Invitational (October 20) with a time of 30 minutes, 37 seconds).

Freshmen Matthew Wiley (Cliffwood Beach, NJ/St. John Vianney) and Patrick McGrath (Lititz, PA/Warwick) were also on the Delaware Valley roster. Wiley took 74th at the MACs (34:46.06) and had top showing of 31 minutes, 58 seconds at the Mideast Regionals. McGrath competed at three events and posted a top time of 33 minutes, 50 seconds at the regionals.
