Delaware Valley College 33, Elizabethtown College 3

ELIZABETHTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College, ranked sixth in Division III, won nine of 10 matches en route to a 33-3 victory over host Elizabethtown College. The Aggies improved to 2-0 in dual meets while the Blue Jays fell to 2-4.

Delaware Valley won the first four weight classes to build a 14-0 advantage. Chris Sheetz opened with a 16-5 major decision over Matt Torresani to improve to 11-3 at 125 pounds. Brandon Clemmer (7-2) followed with an 8-2 decision over Erik Rhoades at 133 and Dan Hall, ranked third in the country at 141 pounds, upped his mark to 7-1 with a 20-6 major decision over Steve Resnick. Jesse Harrington (12-1) made it 14-0 as the fourth-ranked wrestler in Division III came from behind for a 7-3 triumph over Bud Crosswell.

Elizabethtown got its lone points of the night at 157 as Jeremy Heisey upset eighth-ranked Ryan Herwig with a 3-2 decision.

However, the Aggies responded with five straight wins, including a technical fall and three major decisions for the 33-3 finals. Greg Miele (4-0) started the run with a 7-4 decision over Mike Lussier at 165 and John Barrett (9-2) followed with a 12-3 major decision over Josh Cook at 174.

Michael Wilcox (7-1) then dominated his match at 184 pounds and earned a 21-4 technical fall victory over Bill Meaney to up the team score to 26-3. Joe West, ranked sixth in Division III at 197, improved to 9-1 on the year with a 15-2 major decision over Deron Sharp, and Kyle Bilquist capped the night with a 4-3 decision over Tim Katzaman. Bilquist, ranked seventh in the country at heavyweight, upped his season record to 6-1.
