Aggies Compete At East Stroudsburg University Open

EAST STROUDSBURG (PA) - The Delaware Valley College wrestling team competed at the East Stroudsburg University Open on Saturday. Team scoring was not held at the event, which featured hundreds of wrestlers from all Divisions of competition.

Freshman Eric McCann and junior Greg Miele won three matches apiece to reach the quarterfinals at 133 and 165 pounds respectively. McCann posted 8-1 and 9-7 decisions as well as a 20-3 technical fall victory to reach the quarters. He then dropped a 3-2 decision to Matt Bonson of Virginia, who eventually finished in fourth place.

Miele earned 2-1, 6-0 and 13-6 decisions en route to the quarterfinals. He then defaulted to Justin Ransom of Carson-Neumann, who also finished in fourth place.

Much of the consolation bracket was cancelled due to time constraints and the tournament crowned just four placewinners in each weight class instead of the usual eight. The semifinals losers dropped immediately into the consolation finals, not allowing McCann, Miele or any other remaining wrestlers a chance at placing at the event.
