No. 8 Delaware Valley College 40, No. 12 Wilkes University 6

WILKES-BARRE (PA) - In a battle of Division III national powers, eighth-ranked Delaware Valley College won eight of 10 weight classes, including pins in the final four matches, en route to a 40-6 rout at No. 12 Wilkes University.

Delaware Valley improved to 10-2 in dual match competition, including wins over the fourth, sixth, 12th and 21st-ranked teams over the last five days. The Colonels fell to 8-3 with the loss.

The Aggies held a 16-6 lead heading into the final four bouts of the evening. Paul Donnell began the dominating run as he pinned D.J. Giancola in 1:40 to improve to 18-9 at 174 pounds. Martin Porter followed at 184 and he dropped Josh Ballan just 27 seconds into the second period (3:27) to improve to 22-8 and give Delaware Valley a match-clinching, 28-6 advantage.

Kevin Orr saw his mark go to 17-6 as he pinned Colin Nagy in 5:08 of their 197-pound match. Kyle Bilquist, ranked eighth in Division III at heavyweight, ended the night by downing Andrew Feldman in just 55 seconds. Bilquist upped his mark to 28-4 including 13 pins.

The match began at 125 pounds where Josh Proctor (19-11) earned an 8-1 decision over Shaun Farnham for a 3-0 Delaware Valley lead. Wilkes tied the match at 133 as Josh Pauling registered an 8-3 triumph over Justin Short.

However, the Aggies took the lead for good as a pair of technical falls and a decision in the next three weights gave them a 16-3 advantage. Ricky LaForge (19-1) ranked fourth at 141 pounds notched a 17-1 technical fall victory over Donny Clark. Jaryd Steinbacher (22-8), ranked eighth at 149, followed with a 3-1 decision over Adam Penberthy and Ryan Herwig (18-10) posted an 18-1 technical fall triumph Heffernan.

The Colonels picked up its final points at 165 as Justin Barowski earned a 7-3 decision over Ryan Pope. However, Delaware Valley followed with the four pins and the big victory.
