No. 4 Delaware Valley College 28, Lycoming College 15


WILLIAMSPORT (PA) - Josh Proctor and nationally-ranked Ricky LaForge registered pins early in the match to help lift fourth-ranked Delaware Valley College to a 28-15 victory at archrival Lycoming College.

The Aggies improved to 15-2 in dual meets while the Warriors lost for the fifth time in their last six matches and saw their record drop to 8-7 on the year.

Proctor (22-12) opened the match at 125 pounds by pinning Joe Palmitessa in just 73 seconds for a 6-0 Delaware Valley lead. However, Lycoming tied the match in the next weight class as Sean Cullen dropped Mike Handleman in 2:08.

However, LaForge gave the Aggies the lead for good as the second-ranked wrestler in Division III at 141 pounds pinned Kyle Hopkins with just nine seconds left in the match (6:51) for a 12-6 lead. The win was the 23rd for LaForge in 25 matches this season.

2006 national qualifier Jaryd Steinbacher (25-9) followed with a 12-3 major decision over Zach Frederick at 149 pounds to buid the advantage to 16-6. Lycoming fought back and registered victories at both 157 and 165 to cut its deficit to 16-12.

Paul Donnell (22-10) then dominated his 174-pound match for the Aggies and earned five points with a 15-0 technical fall triumph over Justin Waycaster. The Warriors made it 21-15 with a decision at 184, but Joe West put the match out of reach with his 11th win of the season, a 6-2 victory over Troy Hansen at 197 pounds.

Kyle Bilquist, ranked third in the country at heavyweight, ended the evening with a 15-1 major decision over Joe Ostrowski. Bilquist is now a team-best 33-4 on the season.
