Delaware Valley 44, Scranton 3

SCRANTON (PA) - The Delaware Valley College wrestling team, ranked 28th in Division III, notched two pins and a technical fall, en route to a 44-3 road victory over Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) foe The University of Scranton.

The Aggies won their third straight dual meet and improved to 7-6 on the season. They return to action on Friday, January 27 at MAC rival Messiah College. The Royals fell to 0-8.

Nationally-ranked 197-pounder Jamall Johnson and freshman heavyweight Kevin Orr ended the match in style by pinning both of their opponents. Johnson, the 2005 national runner-up who is currently ranked second in his weight class, pinned his fourth straight opponent as he downed David Rohan with eight seconds left in the first period (2:52). Orr followed with a pin of Trevor Needham with 32 seconds remaining in the match (6:28).

Two-time MAC champion and national qualifier Dan Hall earned an 18-3, technical-fall victory over Robert May at 141 pounds. That made the score 15-0 in favor of Delaware Valley as Josh Proctor won by forfeit at 125 and Justin Short notched a 14-4 major decision over Ryan McDaniel at 133.
Scranton picked up its lone points at 149 as Donell Young edged Jaryd Steinbacher, 6-5.

However, Ryan Herwig stopped all momentum by posting an 11-2 victory over Scranton's Tim Simansky at 157 pounds. John Powell (165) followed with an 8-2 triumph over Steve Tatum and Ryan Pope (174) earned a 15-4 major decision over Rob Schwarting. Mike Berlanda picked up a forfeit win at 184 pounds.
