27, Delaware Valley 12 EAST STROUDSBURG (PA) - Delaware Valley
College ended its dual meet season with a 27-12 loss at Division II East Stroudsburg
University on Saturday afternoon. It was originally supposed to be a tri-meet
with Division I Boston University, but the Terriers pulled out of the event earlier
in the week. The Aggies, ranked 21st in Division III, dropped to 10-7
on the season. They now have two weeks to prepare for the Middle Atlantic Conference
(MAC) Championships at Elizabethtown College on Saturday, February 18. Delaware
Valley will aim for its fifth straight conference crown and qualify as many of
its wrestlers to the NCAA Division III Championships. East Stroudsburg improved
to 8-7 with the victory. The Warriors won the first three weight classes
- all by decisions - for a 9-0 lead. Delaware Valley picked up its first win at
149 pounds as Jaryd Steinbacher improved to 10-11 with an 11-4 decision over Chris
Sullivan. However, East Stroudsburg put the match away with back-to-back
pins at 157 and 165 pounds and decisions at both 174 and 184 for a 27-3 advantage.
Jamall Johnson, ranked second in Division III at 197 pounds, won his 19th
match in 23 tries with an 8-6 victory over Sean McCracken. Kevin Orr received
a forfeit at heavyweight to improve to 19-7.
